The new Kia Rio is a five-door hatchback or four-door sedan that is one of the latest in the Kia lineup. Now into its fourth-generation, the Rio is the perfect around-town vehicle for new drivers or those whose needs no longer require a larger vehicle. The new Kia Rio four-door sedan is available in 2 trim levels: LX and S. The new Kia Rio five-door hatchback offers the S trim.

Starting with the 1.6-liter Kia Gamma four-cylinder engine with gas direct fuel injection, it's a powerplant that produces 120 horsepower and 112 lb-ft of torque for an engaging driving experience. This engine is the standard offering through the lineup and comes with a buyer's choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Using a high-pressure fuel system with direct injection, low-friction oil seals and piston cooling-jets to help combustion and reduce power-robbing friction, this high efficiency engine is capable of an EPA estimated 33 city/ 41 highway/ 36 mpg combined in both sedan and 5-door configurations.

The exterior of the Kia Rio is defined by crisp lines and a European demeanor, with surfaces that lend an air of sophistication and sportiness over the prior generation of Rio. Featuring the latest version of the Kia tiger-nose grille, it has newly designed and integrated headlights that are swept back to make them a more aggressive and integral part of the Rio's aerodynamic exterior.

The new lower and wider Kia Rio rides on a platform that is longer than before, and now features a longer wheelbase for expanded legroom in the rear seat. A well-creased shoulder line runs from front to rear, further stretching the overall appearance of the Rio.

The new Kia Rio interior is more spacious, modern and upscale and one of the roomiest in its class. With a new, updated instrument panel, more ergonomic improvements and upgraded materials. Starting with a new wider dashboard that mimics the look of the outside of the car, designers have improved the overall appearance to accommodate the latest in technologies that a now part of the Rio. The new spacious interior features a cargo-swallowing 13.7 cubic feet of trunk space in the sedan, while the five-door hatchback features 17.4 cubic feet behind the rear seat, but when they are folded forward, that number climbs to a voluminous 32.8 cubic feet for luggage, small household furniture or a weekend haul at the local home improvement store.
